More British People are Becoming Comfortable with Mobile Credit Card Purchases

April 12th 2011 -

New research released by a customer experience company has found that British people are increasingly becoming more comfortable with using advances in technology to pay for products. The research found that many people are happy to make mobile credit card payments.

In fact, the study seems to indicate that mobile payments are becoming more important for consumers as they allow them to make online payments while they are away from their computer. This is now starting to revolutionise the world of ecommerce as it means that payments can be made anywhere in the world and while on the move.

However, companies need to be aware of how critical their security and ease-of-use their shopping pages need to be in order to secure a customer’s money. Users are more critical and cautious about making any sort of payments with their mobile rather than using a desktop of laptop. Therefore, it is vital that businesses have the consumer in mind when designing any payment system as if it is even slightly difficult to use they will move onto another site in an instant.

British consumers typically spend ?192 online using their credit cards each month and the Tealeaf research – conducted by Harris Interactive – indicates that a growing proportion of this spend is being transacted via mobile phones.

With contactless credit card chips being considered for the next generation of phones it will be even more important that businesses prepare themselves for this change in consumer buying habits.
